Since its founding in 2009, MOD Developments has grown to become one of Toronto’s most innovative development firms specializing in high-density development with a focus on architectural excellence, heritage preservation and city-building. It is our mission to create mindful development in Toronto that pays homage to our city’s rich cultural and architectural heritage while being a key contributor in the progression towards the city of tomorrow. As part of this mission we work with community partners, industry-leading architects, designers and trades to build homes that utilize progressive design, high-quality materials and sustainable construction practices. We pride ourselves on providing our customers and the communities in which we work a partner that is accountable and honourable.

MOD has won several industry awards (including multiple BILD Project of the Year wins) and currently has six high-rise projects in Toronto collectively representing over 2,800 homes.

GARY SWITZER

GARY SWITZER

Chief Executive Officer

Mr. Switzer graduated from the University of Toronto School of Architecture in 1978 and after working as an architect at WZMH Architects and as a planner at the City of Toronto, went on to establish the high-rise division of Great Gulf Homes, one of Canada’s largest home builders. During the next two decades, Mr. Switzer developed some of the most successful and award-winning projects in Toronto, including The Saint James, The Morgan, The Hudson, 18 Yorkville, X and Charlie. Since founding MOD in 2009, Mr. Switzer has focused on urban developments that build on this legacy, while staying true to MOD’s founding principles of design excellence, heritage preservation and city-building.
 
Mr. Switzer is on the Board at BILD (the Building Industry and Land Development Association), and is the Chair of the Toronto Chapter. He is a frequent lecturer on development issues at the University of Toronto, York University and Ryerson University.

NOOREZ LALANI

NOOREZ LALANI

President

Mr. Lalani received a law degree from the University of Windsor, and was called to the Ontario bar in 2006. He also holds a Masters of Business Administration from the Schulich School of Business, where he specialized in Real Estate Finance and Development. Prior to attending law school, Mr. Lalani received a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science from the University of Western Ontario.

Prior to joining MOD in 2009, he worked in the corporate finance group and commercial real estate group of a prominent Canadian law firm and worked as an account manager for the Toronto Dominion Bank Real Estate Group where he was responsible for underwriting and managing various residential construction loans in the condominium and homebuilding sectors.
 
Mr. Lalani currently sits on the Toronto Artscape Foundation Board of Directors. He also sits on the Board of Directors for Urban Squash Toronto and is a past Board Member of Distress Centers Toronto. Mr. Lalani also sits on the Strong Start, Great Future Campaign Cabinet for the YMCA of Greater Toronto and is also involved with several Canadian charities, including Covenant House and Night to Fight MS.

AIDAN BALL

AIDAN BALL

Director of Construction

Mr. Ball graduated from McGill University with a Bachelor of Engineering degree in 2007 and has many years of experience in the construction industry.

Prior to joining MOD, he worked for seven years as a Project Manager for Camrost-Felcorp and managed multiple high-rise projects such as the luxury Avenue development at Avenue Road & St. Clair and Imperial Plaza, a re-purposing of the iconic 1957 Imperial Oil Building at 111 St. Clair into a residential condominium. Since joining MOD, Mr. Ball has been in charge of supervising all aspects of MOD’s various developments projects.

MICHAEL FOX

MICHAEL FOX

Development Manager

Mr. Fox graduated from the University of Toronto with a Bachelor of Commerce and a Master of Science in Planning, and is a Registered Professional Planner. 

Prior to joining MOD, he held a similar role with Great Gulf. While there for nine years, he worked on large multifamily projects in Toronto and Washington, DC on construction aspects including land acquisition, entitlements, coordination of the design team, representing the owner through construction, condominium registration and retail leasing. His career also led through Ontario’s Ministry of Municipal Affairs and Housing, Brook McIlroy Planning+Urban Design, Hemson Consulting and Context Development. Before getting into real estate, he worked in financial services and economic consulting in Canada and the United States. Mr. Fox joined MOD Developments in 2019 as a Development Manager. He has 15 years of real estate development and urban planning experience. At MOD he assists the team in managing high-rise residential and mixed-use projects, and helps evaluate potential land acquisitions.

ROHAN GAWRI

ROHAN GAWRI

Associate

Mr. Gawri holds an Honors Business Administration from the Ivey Business School at Western University.

Mr. Gawri is involved in all aspects of development activities for MOD’s newest building, 55C. He took part in the underwriting and continues to be involved in design, ongoing budgeting, and sales and marketing for the project. He also plays a role in underwriting new acquisitions.
